TOLLS INCREASE ON GARDEN STATE PARKWAY, TURNPIKE
The tolls have increased today on the Garden State Parkway from 35 to 50 cents. In reality, the toll booth in Cape May County will be one dollar, because of the combination of many toll booths on the Parkway. The increase in tolls were put in place by the Turnpike Authority, who put the increase into place in order to create additional funding for transportation projects. Two of the projects planned include three new lanes between Turnpike Exits 6 and 8A, and a third lane between Exits 63 and 80 on the Parkway. The increase in tolls will make the average 22-mile trip on the Turnpike $1.70, instead of $1.25.
