WERTH MAKES ALL-STAR GAME FOR INJURED BELTRAN
The Philadelphia Phillies are sending three outfielders to this year's All-Star Game. Jayson Werth is replacing an injured Carlos Beltran, of the New York Mets, and will represent the Phillies in St. Louis. He is batting .268 with 20 home runs and 54 RBIs. It is only the 13th time in baseball history at a time has sent three players to an All-Star Game.
STATE GETS FUNDING TO PREVENT SWINE FLU
State health officials announced $10 million in federal dollars to fight swine flu. The New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services is going to use $7.5 million for prevent efforts and the remaining money will go to hospitals to deal with the patients who already contracted the disease. The state has lost 10 people to the disease so far, with 833 confirmed cases.
